SOLO EXHIBITION
THE HAND THAT FEEDS
15 March–19 April, 2024
Private view: 14 March, 6–8pm
22 Dering Street, Mayfair, London, W1S 1AN
Ronchini Gallery will be presenting a solo exhibition of Thomas Allen's work in Mayfair, London, this spring.
Entitled The Hand That Feeds, the exhibition will feature works created mostly over the past year that engage with the question of how our relationship with the land is mediated through desire and modes of consumption. The works reflect upon the tension that exists between pleasure and destruction in the act of consuming.
All are welcome to the private view on the evening of Thursday 14 March, 6–8pm.
The exhibition will then be open to the public Monday–Friday, 10am–6pm.
DOCUMENTARY FILM
Now available to watch, ‘Thomas’ is a short documentary film that offers an insight into Thomas Allen’s artistic practice and thinking.
Back in November 2023, the documentary filmmakers ThreeBroMedia visited his studio – a disused pool house in the Horley countryside – as he was preparing for an upcoming solo exhibition.
At the time, he was working on the ‘Jinn Series’, four large paintings that explore how our relationship to the land is mediated through desire and modes of consumption. They will be on display in his exhibition, entitled ‘The Hand That Feeds’, at Ronchini Gallery in Mayfair, London, this spring.
In the film, Allen also talks about past projects, such as his Contemporary Cave Paintings, and his underlying interest in the way our internal mindscapes interlace with our external landscapes.
